Maggie is a qualified independent Clinical Art Psychotherapist, Private Practitioner and EMDR Therapist. She completed her MA Art Therapy at the University of Hertfordshire and holds a First Class BSc(Hons) in Psychology with Criminology from Bucks New Uni. She has worked extensively with children in primary, secondary, mainstream and specialist schools, helping pupils with their emotional and educational difficulties. Her clinical experience also includes working with people with learning disabilities and mental health difficulties such as depression and anxiety. She also has experience working with eating disorders, self harm, addictions and substance misuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, offending behaviour, homelessness, grief and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
She currently co-facilitates a group for adults in prison with learning disabilities, mental health, offending behaviour and substance misuse issues at a prison in Oxfordshire. Her specialism is in delivering 1:1 and group art and creative play therapy interventions for a number of different client groups in a number of venues across Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and London areas. As a Specialist Counsellor within the NHS and Bereavement Services, she supports children, young people, couples and families with fertility issues, baby loss, terminal illnesses, bereavement, suicide, terrorism and murder.
Maggie established Blue Pencil Art Therapy to provide art therapy provision for people of all ages who might otherwise be unable to access therapy. By working collaboratively with other Art Therapists, and co-facilitators as appropriate, Blue Pencil Art Therapy is able to deliver therapeutic interventions, training and workshops in a variety of settings which can benefit individuals, groups and the wider community.
All Blue Pencil Art Therapists and co-facilitators take a person centred, systemic and integrative approach to psychodynamic therapeutic interventions. As such Blue Pencil Art Therapy can provide a bespoke service, based on client need, using a combination of clinical expertise with a creative approach as appropriate.
